Bafana Bafana and Panama will lock horns in two international friendlies over the next week, with the first game kicking off in Durban at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday (kick-off 7pm).
Panama have left nothing and no one behind for their South African tour, naming a star-studded squad packed with talent from across top leagues that included the English Premier League, Turkish Süper Lig and La Liga in Spain.
Under coach Thomas Christiansen, Panama’s team philosophy blends experience and tactical fluidity. The squad reflects a desire to build on possession and quick passing, while maintaining defensive solidity, while developing their youth.
Many selections within the squad are seasoned internationals that have featured in major tournaments, including a previous Fifa World Cup and CONCACAF Nations League.
Players bring experience from European competition, while utility midfielders and wingers add depth and creativity. The inclusion of emerging talent from abroad signals Panama’s intent to strike a balance between tried‑and‑tested performers and youthful energy.
Panama have based themselves at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban, roughly 17 km from Moses Mabhida.
The squad arrived in phases this past week, with players undertaking gym and fitness sessions before full squad training began, allowing physical preparation tailored to the upcoming matches and acclimatisation to local conditions, such as Durban's humid climate.
